Everything worth
knowing beforehand.
Prices, pickups, luggage, child seats, waiting times and cancellations — set out plainly. If your question is not here, message us and we will answer it.
Tour experience
What the day is, and how much of it is yours
Are your tours private and guided?
Yes. Your tour is reserved for your group alone and includes a professional English-speaking guide. You never share the experience or the vehicle with other travellers.
Which destinations do you cover?
Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Hakone, Nikko, Kamakura, Nagano and Chichibu, plus multi-day journeys that combine several of them into one itinerary. If you have somewhere else in mind, ask.
Can the itinerary be customised?
That is the point of a private tour. Stops and timing are built around your interests and pace, and can be adjusted on the day around traffic, weather, seasonal access and opening hours.
How long are your tours?
Most full days run 10 to 11 hours door to door. Nagano runs to 12. The exact duration is on each tour page and in your confirmation. Extra time is ¥5,000 per hour, subject to the day’s schedule.
Do tours run in bad weather?
Yes, rain or shine. Your guide adjusts the route or swaps outdoor stops when it makes for a better day. In genuinely unsafe conditions we contact you to discuss the options.
What should we wear?
Comfortable walking shoes, and clothing for the season. Temples, gardens and viewpoints involve steps, slopes and uneven ground. Mountain stops are markedly colder than Tokyo in any season.
Pricing and inclusions
One price for the group, agreed before you travel
Is the price per person or per group?
Per group. Choose the group size that matches your party and that is the price for everyone — there is no per-person surcharge.
What is included?
Tour planning and coordination, a professional English-speaking guide, private transportation through licensed commercial partners, fuel, highway tolls, parking, and bottled water. Pickup and drop-off arrangements are stated on each tour page.
What is not included?
Attraction admissions, ropeways, cruises, meals, drinks, optional activities and personal purchases, unless a tour page states otherwise. Airport and cruise terminal transfers are a separate service.
Are there any additional charges?
The price and its inclusions are shown before checkout. If your request needs extra time, a pickup outside the included area, a larger vehicle or another special arrangement, we set out the cost and confirm it with you first.
Is Wi-Fi provided?
On-board Wi-Fi is available subject to the assigned vehicle and network coverage. It drops in tunnels and mountain areas, as all networks do there.
Pickup and transportation
Where we collect you, and in what
Which pickup areas are included?
For most Tokyo-based tours, one pickup and one drop-off within Tokyo’s 23 wards. The exact area for each experience is stated on its tour page. Pickup elsewhere can usually be arranged for an additional charge.
What vehicles do you use?
Toyota Alphard, Vellfire or HiAce depending on your group and luggage, arranged through licensed commercial transportation partners using licensed drivers and properly registered green number plate vehicles.
Can we bring luggage?
Small bags are fine. If you are travelling with suitcases, strollers, wheelchairs, golf equipment or several large bags, tell us before booking so the right vehicle is assigned.
Are child seats available?
Yes, on request and free of charge. Give us each child’s age and approximate weight when booking. Child seats can affect passenger and luggage capacity, which is why we ask in advance.
Can you accommodate limited mobility?
Tell us before booking about wheelchairs, walking aids, assistance needed or vehicle access, and we will build the day around it. Accessibility varies a great deal between temples, gardens and viewpoints, so some stops may be substituted.
Booking, payment and changes
How to book, and what happens if plans move
How do I book?
Choose your tour or transfer, select the group size or vehicle, and complete the secure checkout. Check availability first if you are travelling in a busy season.
When is my booking confirmed?
On successful payment, followed by a confirmation email. Check the service, date and passenger count when it arrives. If it has not appeared, look in your spam folder and then message us.
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit and debit cards, PayPal, and the digital wallets shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. We do not store card details.
Can I change my date?
Subject to availability. Message us as soon as you know, with your booking details and the new date. A price difference may apply if the service, vehicle or group size changes.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel 72 hours or more before the start time and you receive 95% of what you paid. Between 24 and 72 hours, 80%. Under 24 hours is non-refundable. Those figures are what reaches your account — the transaction and refund-processing fee is already taken out of them, so a $600 booking cancelled a week ahead returns $570.
Airport and cruise transfers
A separate service from the tours
Which transfers do you run?
Narita and Haneda airports, Tokyo hotels, Tokyo Disney Resort, Tokyo Cruise Terminal, Yokohama Cruise Port and the surrounding areas. These are transportation services rather than guided tours and are booked separately.
Who operates the vehicles?
Our licensed transportation partner, Nini Travels, using licensed drivers and properly registered green number plate vehicles for commercial passenger transport.
Is waiting time included?
Airport arrivals include 90 minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time. Airport departures include 30 minutes from the scheduled pickup. Beyond that, waiting is ¥2,500 per additional 30 minutes.
Do you track flights?
Yes, on airport arrivals. Give us the flight number when booking so your driver can follow the arrival time and adjust the pickup.
Is Meet and Greet available?
Select it during booking and your driver waits in the arrivals area holding a sign with the lead traveller’s name.
Which transfer vehicle should I choose?
An Alphard or Vellfire suits one to four passengers with normal luggage, or five with backpacks only. Choose the HiAce for larger groups, several suitcases, strollers, golf equipment or oversized bags. Send us your passenger and luggage numbers and we will confirm.
Still deciding
Send us your dates
